This is a sample of the shopping list we used to organize our visits to the store. Actually, the real thing was a Microsoft Word document, which conveniently fit on one page.

We used this list when we headed out to handle our "big shop" every four weeks. The two housemates shopping that week reviewed the list and made notes in the "Need" column. Our needs varied quite a bit from month to month. The "Portion" column is generally what we aimed to have on hand at the end of a big shop.
